District Community Monitor
I with my 4 other team mates (community Monitors) under UNICEF Emergency Nutrition Project were in charge of all the health facilities in Mongu District insuring that the nutritional status of children under 5 is improved. To do this we worked closely together with our colleagues from the Ministry of Health who are managing the facilities to ensure that our objectives are met.
Job Description
-Conducting Key Informant interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGD).
-Data collection for SQUEAC survey.
-Activity monitoring.
-Community Mobilization. Church leaders, Indunas, Chiefs, Chairman and other prominent figures in the community were used to mobilize the people
.
-Conducting meetings with Village headmen and chiefs explaining the aims of the project, its goals, objective s and the intended beneficiaries.-Conducting monthly meetings with health workers in various facilities within Mongu District discussion the progress of the project.
-Data entry
-Training of community volunteers on Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and Maternal and Young Child Feeding (MAYCN).
-Community sensitization. I was responsible for ensuring that the message on Infant and Young Child Feeding reaches everyone in the community. I did this through Drama. Community volunteers trained made some drama groups and it was through this that the message was able to reach the general populace.
-Report writting. Wrote reports for every activity that I undertook and these were passed to the Project Manager for planning or decision making.
-End user Monitor in the use of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
