About me

My name is Gerrard Maumbi, I am 26 years old. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration with Psychology from the University of Zambia. From this program, I have done the following Courses: Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Human Resource Management and Administration, Project Management, Public Policy Analysis, Industrial and Labour Relations, Research, National and Local Government Administration and Management, Organization Behavior and Management as well as Organization Structure and Design.
I started my community work in the year 2011 when I was in grade 10 as a Community Health Worker on a voluntary basis. I then join Mmabana Community Outreach Organization in 2014 before enrolling for a Bachelor’s degree. I have worked with a number of Institutions /organizations such as Caritas Zambia, Choma District Health Office, Choma General Hospital, Kalingalinga Clinic, World Vision, Care International and I am now working as Community Champion at The Zambian Youth Platform in Choma.
Having been exposed and worked in a number of organizations I have gained administrative, research and management skills and experience necessary for an institution/organization’s development and success. Due to my diligence  and Commitment to work, I was once appointed as a team lead for the research, Peace Ambassador as well as HIV Viral Load Champion.
I am flexible, reliable and possess excellent planning and time keeping skills. I am an enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative, reliable, responsible and hard working person. I am a mature team worker and adaptable to all challenging situations. I am able to work well both in a team environment as well as using own initiative.

    I enrolled for my degree program in 2015 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration with Psychology from the University of Zambia in 2019. Between the year 2016-2018, I obtained Certificate qualifications as follows: 2016-Certificate in Basic Information and Communication Technology Skills (Introduction to computer, File management, Microsoft Word 2013, Power, Excel, Point 2013 and Internet and Emails) from the University of Zambia. 2017-Certificate in Data Management and Analysis using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) from the University of Zambia. 2018-Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) from the University of Zambia. 2018-Certificate in Psychosocial Counselling from the University of Zambia.

    For my secondary education I was at St. Peter Canisius Secondary School in Monze District of Southern Province. I did my grade eight (8) up to twelve (12).

    The Zambian Youth Platform

    COMMUNITY CHAMPION (FACILITATOR)

    I am a Community Champion in the Adolescent Sexual Reproduction Health Service Access Project (ASSAP) that is aimed at creating demand and awareness/ education of sexual reproductive health and access services for Adolescents and Young Adults in Choma District of Southern Province. I submit reports for the work done per month as well as monthly work plans. I conduct community outreaches to educate adolescents and young adults pertaining to STIs, family planning, Reproductive Health rights, Substance abuse among others.

    Choma General Hospital

    HIV VIRAL LOAD CHAMPION/PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELOR

    Before joining Zambian Youth Platform (ZYP), I worked as a Volunteer at Choma General Hospital ART Department. This was for a period of 6 months. During my time at Choma General Hospital, I was involved in the following duties: HIV Client record filing, HIV index testing, HIV Client follow-ups, HIV client enrolment, Care (viral load) and retention (events) services, daily updates of registers for HIV services, electronic Health Record System (Smart Care), DHIS, linkage and reporting of HIV case identification (HTS),

    World Vision International and Care International

    RESEARCH ASSISTANT

    Between 2018-2020, I was engaged in research as a Research Assistant by World Vision International. I conducted a research with World Vision for for 3 years, in 2018, 2019 and 2020. This is an annual research that World Vision International conducts to evaluate the impact of their projects it is running in various parts of Zambia. This project pertains to education (ZRead), , Water, Agriculture, Sanitation, Heath (WASH) and then COVID-19 research in 2019.

    In the year 2020 in October after World Vision research, I conducted a research with Care International in a project called scaling up nutrition intervention (SUNI).

    Choma District Health Office

    ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

    I did a Voluntary intern with Choma District Health Office as an Assistant Human Resource Officer. This was the period when I closed for the next semester at the University of Zambia. As one who likes learning to improve my skills, knowledge and wanting to have the required experience, I applied at the District Health Office to and I was assigned the following duties:

    Supports human resources processes by scheduling appointments, conducting orientation, maintaining records and information, and signing of Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS Forms).

    PSYCHOSOCIAL COUNSELOR

    Whilst a student at the University of Zambia, I spared my free time to offer my voluntary service of Psychosocial Counselling. During this time, I was assigned the following duties:

    After my secondary school education, I continued with my community work with Mmabbana Community Outreach Organization in Choma District as a Facilitator.     BEST SCHOOL PREFECT OF THE YEAR

    Due to my hardwork, I was awarded as Best prefect of the year 2013 by my former secondary school, St. Peter Canisius.

    HIV VIRAL LOAD CHAMPION

    Choma General Hospital awarded me as HIV Viral Load Champion among all the Psychosocial Counselor in Choma District because of my commitment and zeal in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
